brown rice & carrot (colored) juice

I am making up some brown rice on the stove, to later put into my grilled wrap for dinns. Going Hotshots style (and Chelsea's recommendations), I am going to stuff a whole wheat wrap with brown rice, spinach, peppers, and mozzarella cheese... YUM! And maybe a side of tofu for protein.

It's nearly half past 12 and I am still sitting in my pajamas...I have the condo to myself while Lex is in Tofino, but my parents will be arriving Thursday night-Sunday afternoon, so I just have the place all to myself until then. I am planning on the leaving the house today: walk to the gym and workout, and then walk to Safeway to get groceries for dinns, and then home. However, it is a gross day out today compared to the past couple days, so it doesn't really inspire me to get my butt outside.

I have good news about a job, but until I am on the schedule and have my first shift, I'll keep my mouth (and words) quiet about details.

I spent the entire day outside yesterday: I first walked straight uphill to Mt. Tolmie (same route that Chels and I did the night before), and went to finish my book in the sun. It was a bit chillier than expected and my left contact decided to bust in half ... so after I finished my book (I didn't have all that much left), I hit the road and walked back home. I put in a new contact and made a yummy summer salad with loads of yummy ingredients like craisins, sunflower seeds, and a hard boiled egg. All topped off with a pesto dressing. Then, I spent the rest of the afternoon on my deck chatting on the phone. It was lovely.

Lex, her mom, and I went to dinner to the restaurant 'glo'. It is in a super pretty location, and the food was great! I was having a lovely evening sipping tea until I had to deal with a gossip queen who can't manage to stay out of my business. There comes a time where you get your own life, where you should simply lead your OWN life, and stop the highschool 'we all know everything about each other' gossip. Anyways, that was minor and I got over it, and curled up on the futon to watch the Hills.

Okay, I best check on that rice!
Hope some of you have sun today!

LOVE

Apr 26, 2009

white tea.

Tea time...I just got back from a walk with Chels. We were wandering in the dark and ended up at the top of Mt. Tolmie! We went up on the other side, and got up there as it was getting dark, and it was just lovely!

I spent my day today cleaning (a lot!!), practicing my sign language, ripping out pages from the Ikea catalogue, looking at pictures from grade 11 (when I was going through a twig stage), and making phone calls. Today was a good day.

I am hoping to be employed this week. Tomorrow is Monday which hopefully means that people will start looking through resumes and making phone calls! I am supposed to hear from Aldo by tomorrow too ... so keep your fingers crossed for me.

love always. always love.
xx

it's going to take a lot to drag me away from you.

Days go by. I am still waiting on Aldo to call me back. They said somewhere between Friday and Monday...so hopefully soon? I've just been hanging out the past few days. I've been taking it pretty easy, and going downtown a couple times to shop (but no purchases). The only thing that I did by is my homework for the summer: I am going to learn how to sign properly. So I've got a basic beginners book which teaches you how to put phrases and sentences together (since it's like any other language and cannot be translated straight across).

Today I am cleaning (you should see how high the clothes are piled in my room): I've got the bathroom done, and laundry in the dryer. So the room is next. Later, I might hit up the gym ... and not sure what else.

The sun is shining again :)

the climb

I am home to Cranbrooklyn in two weeks! Time seems like it is creeping by, but hopefully it'll speed up soon. My parents are here in one week. Hopefully I will be working soon! However, it is only April 23, and this time last year I didn't start working until May 1. But I could use that money asap! Anyways, I had the weirdest, strangest dreams last night that I won't even go into detail about. I think I had like 4 or 5 dreams, but they were all linked together somehow.

Today there is sun, but also some clouds. I hear it is snowing in Cranbrook. That is shit!

On my schedule today: cleaning my room (it gets messy like the next day after it's clean. yuck!), meeting up with Sierra at some point in time, maybe some gym action, and then seeing my boy for the last time (or tomorrow might be the last) before he returns home for the summer.

My inner thighs are terribly sore from the gym this week. I think they got sore from Body Sculpt on Tuesday, but then from doing thigh workouts during Step last night, are still sore. At least something is working!

Anyways, I best be off to shower now.

a little bit of this, a little bit of that.a

Just cooking up some Smart pasta with some sort of basil-y sauce and broccoli...and then off to Step class! Today turned out to be pretty nice and sunny! My interview was a success ... but I am still waiting to hear from the Manager: she said she would call by Friday (or by Monday). I feel like I am getting super good at interviews! I have had so many this year. Anyways, I really want the job, and I'm excited to learn some new sort of things and to accessorize! Fingers crossed I got the job.

--two weeks til home time. I can't wait to see my bestie, Tash!

love sex magic

I am sitting here listening to my newly downloaded music (the beat 94.5, obvs), sipping on my version of Starbucks shaken iced tea. I brew a green tea bag with a bit of boiling water, add one and a half sweetners to it, fill the cup 3/4 full of icy cold water, let it sit, add a splash of lemonade and a handful of ice cubes: waaaa-llaaaaa! All for zero dollars out of my wallet.

Anyways, I am getting ready for my interview, and can't find the wide leg pants that I want. I also wish I had a black blazer. I found the perfect one from Zara, but couldn't afford it. It looked a lot like the one that Lauren was wearing on this week of the Hills: with the white cuffed sleeves with pinstripes. Savings timmme. I really want the job, I really want any job, and new sunnies.

It's colder here today, and looks like rain :(

oh! Happy Earth Day (but didn't you know that everyday is Earth day?)

cheers.

Apr 21, 2009

you can fix anything with a kiss.

Tomorrow (April 22) is Earth Day: be extra environmental and green and earrrthy.

Today is another warm day filled with sun. Chels and I are going to venture up Mt. Tolmie to sun bathe and get some fresh air. I am a bit sore today from step class! It was so crowded and hot in there last night I was definitely all huffed up and red faced. It was definitely a kick in the butt and a great workout.

Apr 20, 2009

i'll feed you ramen and you'll braid my hair.

Waking up to sunshine is the greatest thing: instant mood booster. I've had a rough couple days trying to get a job, dealing with relationship business, and figuring out exactly where I belong. I was trying to explain to Dale that I miss who I used to be about two years ago. Two years ago felt like my good times. My relationship was at it's greatest, I had a great friend base, and was working just the perfect amount to still have a life. Not that I don't like where I am at now, but I almost felt cooler and comfortable back in the day. There are just some aspects of my life that I feel that I have lost, and want to find again!

Anyways, off that sour note. Today is gorgeous, and I've spent most of the morning on my deck. I have almost managed to tidy up my room, paint my nails, take out the recycling, and bring back the fan back upstairs! It's heating up: hope it stays. My brother said that it was supposed to be 21 in Cranny. Whoooa ... we are hoping for 18 here! If the breeze would just stop, it'd be absolutely perfect.

I am meeting Chels soon while she does laundry, and then I have a few errands (I need soap, mascara, cover-up, and a foot scrubber thingy) to do. So I'll prolly walk towards Dale's and maybe have a quick visit with him. Tonight ... lex and I are finally heading back to step class! I am pretty stoked to switch up my workout.

Enjoy the sun if it's in your neighborhood!

Apr 19, 2009

airplanes can take you back to love.

I love these little guys from Ikea. They are stick-on-to-the-wall frames. I can't wait to get my hands on them: I have some great ideas for what to put in them!

sing out, so i can hear you once again ... you're in my mind now.

Today was a stressful/frustrating/angry/tired/sad day. I can't help but be overwhelmed as I am unemployed, and have been job searching since January! I printed out a ton of resumes and headed down to my new apartment location thinking there were tons of places to apply ... well there are tons of places, just none that are in my interest of work. So then downtown it was to the mall. I got an application from Coles, and an interview to Aldo Accessories. Then, I went to London Drugs to hand in a resume, and I need to apply online for that (but there is no where to apply online?). My mom gave me the link to a parks and rec job that looks decent, so I am in the midst of filling that out and making a cover letter.

Other than that, I walked to and from the gym, and had a good workout to blow off some steam. Home for some leftover pad thai, and I waited for Chels to come over. We chatted and watched a movie, and drank two cups of tea each. It was the perfect low-key night that I needed with a girlfriend!

Tomorrow ... the gym, more job hunting, basically the same thing I do everyday: story of my life.

... until I get un-boring!

Apr 18, 2009

boys and girls.

The job hunt continues today ...

I need to paint my nails, and I can't help wishing I were going home (for summer) and getting a crappy job in Cranbrook.

I have a week left with my boy. This summer should be interesting.

All I want to do is shop.

Apr 17, 2009

two of my favorites.

spring cleaning.

I am all done my second year at UVic! hip hip. I ended with a bang ... my geography final went well (I can feel it...), and I got an A+ on my Canadian scrapbook! Yesterday, I celebrated with Chels, Jord, and Dale. Chels and I made tons of pad thai (yum!) and tasty sangria. We all played some Tiger Woods golf, and hung out.

So, today, my first official free day ... I have spent relaxing and cleaning and eating left over pad thai. I have called Safeway (the one on Fort and Foul Bay), to follow up with their phone call, and the lady said that after she considered my resume, she only wanted a non-student. Well, hello! I'm totally free for 4 and a half months ... so boo for that. I am still waiting to hear from Chapters, and then I'm really going to need to buckle down.

My maj and faj are coming down in two weeks to help clean up the new place! I am also going home to Cranbrook in two weeks and six days. I am really looking forward to some home time, and going to Spokane for my Dad's grad! Then, I'll get a couple days after grad to spend at home, before returning to Victoria.

It's sunny here today, but quite windy. The wind wrecks everything! Tonight Dale and I are going to go for dinns to 5th Street bar & Woodfire Grill! Chels and Jord went there the other night, and the menu looks really tasty!

Apr 12, 2009

unconditionally and irrevocably in love.

but if i should break, if i should fall away, what am i to do?

diving too deep for coins.

I am back from Vancouver. Actually, I got back yesterday. It was another long day. We left for the ferry at 10 (got a ride, thanks to Keith!), caught the 11 ferry, bussed downtown, and then bussed home. I arrived home around 230.

I spent my afternoon yesterday .... calling Chapters (seems my only option is to apply online), taking pictures, getting groceries (and fetching Lexa's car), briefly looking over my geog notes, and relaxing. I was waiting for my boy to finish golf and tutor so we could go for drinks and dinns! I read a bit of this new book I'm reading, showered, and then walked to Dale's to wait for his arrival. We ended up at Earl's (again), cause he was craving spinach dip (I did not object!). We caught up since we hadn't seen each other since Tuesday, and had barely spoken when either of us were in Van (busy bees). Then we went back to his house to watch the two new episodes of The Office (that he taped) ... so good! But, I fell asleep somewhere in the middle of the second one. Today, I just arrived home, cooked up some eggs with peppers and asparagus mixed in, had a slice of toast and some blackberry yogurt. Yum! Now, I need to shower, study, and hit up the gym later after The Masters.

Oh! The rest of Van was good. I spent Friday with my Popo and Gung gung ... we went for dim sum and then I accompanied them to the cemetery to lay flowers for some of my great-great relatives. I learned some more about my history of my family coming to China, working, and racism. Then, I headed back and Carli and I went to Metrotown. I got a cute dress from Zara. That night, Alli and Keith cooked up a Easter feast for us! It was delish. We topped the night off watching Twilight (for the second time since I'd been in Van). We re-wound our fav scene to watch it over and over.

Ah! I need to get a move on it.

Apr 9, 2009

april, aglow.

I am in Vancouver for a few days. I needed to get off the island, and let my mind think of other things besides school, and getting a job. Today my mom found a posting for a job at Chapters (ommmmgmgggmgmgmg), so I have been trying to apply online, but no success yet. I have contacted the customer service about their site issues, so hopefully they will get back to me soon. Anyways, updates!

On Monday, Lauren arrived and we spent a lovely afternoon outdoors on the deck, soaking up the sun. For dinns we made a scrumptious pasta salad, and strawberry smoothies for dessert. We watched the hills season 5 premiere (soooo good!!), and then I studied for my interview and exam. Early to bed, because I was up early to prep for my polisci exam. The exam went alright, but I didn't get my top choices to write on ... so I felt I maybe didn't have enough to say? I went home to get ready for my interview and practice a couple times! I was super nervous, but it went really well. The interviewers were super friendly, and said that I presented myself well, was friendly (as well), and that I seemed very knowledgeable from all of my experience (which I thought I lacked). So YAY for getting those two things over with on Tuesday! I went back home to join Lauren for a snack at Starbucks, and then back to my deck for awhile. Jo-anne joined us, but then I had to leave to go do a photoshoot! Dale and I got out pics taken by Lex for a project she was doing: Engagement photos! It was a pretty fun afternoon. Back home again to meet up with Lauren and Jo-anne, and to get ready for dinns. Chels joined us, and we bussed downtown to Earl's. Dinner was delicious as usual. Lauren, Chels, and I then bussed back home. I was super tired and hit the hay, knowing I'd have to wake up super early again to pack and get ready for Van.

I was up at 7 a.m. to pack, and eat breaky. I bussed downtown at 9 with a cup of tea in hand. It started out to be a beautiful day. I stopped at the bank, and then walked to meet Carli. We bussed to the ferry, got onto the ferry, and some girl told us to tag our bags. So had some trouble with that...but got it worked out. Our ferry was running 15 minutes behind, so when we bussed to Ladner Exchange, we missed our transfer. So we had to wait an hour in the freezing wind for the next bus! bleh. So another bus to the skytrain, skytrained a couple stops, then another bus up the street awhile, and FINALLY a few blocks of walking to reach my gramma's house. For a grand total of 7 hours travel time! SHIT.

Anyways, last night we just had pizza and watched Twilight. Carli and I fell in love with Edward all over again, and the whole concept of passionate love.

Today ... still in my p.j.'s at 1:00 p.m. ... catching up on msgs and stuff, and I'll get ready soon! Carli and I may venture downtown to Robson this afternoon and buy ourselves a pressie :)

love love.

Apr 5, 2009

china green tea.

Today has been a success! I woke up early this morning, made some oatmeal and settled down to look over my polisci notes. I ended up just sitting around and studying (and watching the Hills) until 2. Dale and I hit up the gym for some much need cardio, and then we headed back to his place for a bit. I studied a bit more, and then walked home. Got home and cooked some dinns for Lex and I, called Carli, and then got ready for some more studying. I have been studying polisci and doing interview stuff for the past three hours. Now I am over at Dale's drinking a China Green tea (that Dale so kindly went and got me) and nibbling on chocolate covered licorice (so much for the no late night nibbles rule, but my boy brought them back to soothe my cramps!). He is going to quiz me on my polisci short answer stuff, and then maybe I'll call it a night.

Tomorrow: Up early to study, the gym, maybe helping Lex in the afternoon for a photoshoot, Lauren arrives, more studying and prepping, and the Hills season five premiere!

love always.

color it in.

I can't believe that it's already Saturday night/Sunday morning ... I only have two more days left to prep for the interview and study for my exam! Yesterday I got most of the short answer questions ready for polisci, so that felt productive. Late afternoon/evening, yesterday, Dale and I headed out to Langford again. He wanted to check out Golf Town where we scoped out the latest clubs and hit a few balls. We then went over to Pier 1 Imports (heeeeaven) in search of some of those reed sticks for aroma. We didn't find a flavor that we liked, but I checked out all the cute decor in hopes of one day being able to afford that stuff! After that we went to the Superstore so that I could find something to wear for my interview. I bought a dress and a skirt, and there is one more dress that wants my purchase (but I'll wait to see how the interview goes, and my maj may get it for me!). Anyways, I think I am going to wear the dress for the interview. We headed back to Victoria around 8:30, cleaned up Dale's place, and then Chels and Jord came over for some end of the year celebratory drinks. Chels and I had our usual pomegranate Crystal Light with diet 7-up, and we also made blackberry smoothies with Bailey's in it. Yum! Chels and I fell asleep in Dale's bed around 2:30, while our boys were up until 6:30 drinking. They finally pulled the mattresses from the bunk bed, and camped out in the living room. This morning we got up lazily and Chels and Jord drove me home around 12.

This afternoon, I finished up the short answer questions, and then Amy came over so we could prepare for the interview. We got a few links from my Dad for some helpful hints, and we brainstormed with our own minds too. I feel a bit more at ease about the questions, but nervous as hell for the interview! Bah. I spent the rest of the afternoon starting the essay question stuff, made a really early supper of tofu, asparagus, and yellow peppers, all grilled up in the pan with sweet chili sauce, and then fell asleep for a nap. I woke up around 8, worked more on questions and realized that my notebook was MIA. Well, I really needed my notebook for the essay questions ... I finally texted a classmate asking if they had my notebook, I guess that I had lent it to them on Thursday, and completely forgot. So, then I got my notebook back, worked more on essay questions, and then Dale and I went to see the late showing of "I Love You, Man". It was superrrr cute and funny, and had some of my favs starring in it!

Now, I am home, in bed, and hoping to get up early tomorrow to gym it, and study. It is supposed to be 16 degrees tomorrow! Eeks.

Apr 3, 2009

dried mango slices & bingo lottery tickets.

Today was the last day of classes. Wow. That semester was such a great semester, and I'm really going to miss taking a measly 3 classes a term.
The rain will just not go away. Fourth day of blah, cold, shit, rain, and I'm sick of it. I wore a pair of long wide-leg jeans today: worst day to wear them ... I had sopping ankles for the entire day... anyways, enough complaining!

Last night I received the questions for my interview. They are pretty hardcore questions, but I have started to prepare them. My interview is on Tuesday afternoon ... same day that I have a final. Greeeeeat ... prepping for two things in 4 days. Ah, oh well ... least I get them out of the way before Easter :) I need to find the perfect outfit to wear to the interview. Conservative, but trendy, not too flashy, a bit professional ... something that screams 'I am serious about this, but hip". I have a couple ideas ...

Tomorrow is the start of studying for polisci ... I started looking up some of the definitions today, but tomorrow I'll try to get all the short answer ones done. Our prof gave us the exact things that we need to know, so I am really grateful for that!! Also, gym tomorrow, and seeing Chels!

Apr 1, 2009

you know that i could use somebody.

you, me, and the bourgeoisie

duet

APRIL FIRST. wow, already? It's hardly spring here. The weather is especially crap today. I need sunshine!

My boy April Fooled me today. Well he tried to at least ... telling little lies, but he sorta screwed up cause he just started telling preposterous white lies one after another, and I finally caught on. He started with: "I didn't go to class today because my prof was assassinated last night for drug trafficking". I mean, this sounds ridiculous, but I believed it. But then it just went on and on, and ended with Dale having HIV.

Anyways. Today ... gym during Dale's noon-hour hockey, and that is all I really have planned. Resume handing out later today, if all goes well. I should start studying for PoliSci (the exam is in 6 days!), but I am waiting to see if the prof gives us an outline tomorrow like he did with the midterm. Otherwise, I have NO idea what to study, and if it is the entire term or just past the midterm. gah.

Off to Vancouver in one week! :)
